4 Skincare Investments you Need to Make

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'd do pretty much anything if I knew it was going to benefit my skin (yes even drink green tea, now that's dedication). Although my obsession with  skincare may derive from a place of slight vanity, I truly believe that it's so important to take the time to look after your skin because you only get one face and all (and I want mine to be the glowiest, most wrinkle free face in all the nursing home in a good 65 years time lolz). So I guess for that reason, I really don't mind spending a little bit more money and investing in high quality products that I know I can rely on to give my skin what it needs to blossom and just look bloomin good. For the past few weeks I've been doing just that and treating my skin like royalty (and seriously reaping the rewards) by using four Kiehl's* products you need in your bathroom cupboard asap.

 Daily Reviving Concentrate 50ml* (£49.00)

I guess I better start with the product that's literally changed my life for the better and still gives me that little spark of happiness and excitement when I go to use it every morning. I used to be one of those silly, silly people who steered well clear of using oils in my skincare routine because if my skin is already oily what would possess me to use more oil? No boo, we all know that's not how it works. Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate is a lightweight blend of natural oils including ginger root, tamanu and sunflower which are full of antioxidants that help to hydrate the skin, reduce the appearance of fatigue and give you an all day glow.

For me, one of the most notable things about this products is that a little seriously goes such a long way and, despite using a drop or two every day for about a month now, I've barely made a dent in the bottle. I usually apply a couple of drops on to clean skin just before applying my makeup and am always amazed at just how quickly it sinks in to my skin, creating such a perfect base to start with. Even after my first use I found that my skin looked healthier, more awake and radiant, kind of like I'm using the Snapchat butterfly filter but with a distinct lack of butterflies flying around my head. I will definitely be repurchasing this when it eventually runs out but by that time I expect I'll be married with three kids and a dog and planning my retirement.

Ultra Facial Moisturiser 125ml* (£24.00)

I feel like the Ultra Facial Moisturiser is such a staple, no fuss, no faff product that everyone needs to have a bottle of. Formulated for all skin types, it's a lightweight moisturiser made with ingredients that help to restore and maintain the skin's natural, moisture balance, including a range of Vitamins that I would probably get if I ate more greens (but I don't) so I can rest easy knowing my face isn't missing out. Again, a little goes a long way and despite being fairly lightweight, I've found it super effective at clearing up specific dry patches, nose…why you always sad and flaky?

Super Multi-Corrective Cream SPF 30 50ml* (£49.00)

A close second favourite to the Daily Reviving Concentrate, the Super Multi-Corrective Cream is unlike anything I've tried before. Packed full of ingredients picked to target different signs of ageing (your gal's twenty now, gotta start thinking about these things), the blend of beech tree and jasmine flower extract and hyaluronic acid has worked wonders for my skin. After each use my skin looks and feels firmer, more hydrated and just a bit…you know, happier. The cream also retexturizes skin without being too harsh so I definitely think it would even work for those with more sensitive skin. It also boasts an SPF of 30 which I think is so important and something I always like to have in a moisturiser, even though it's not really been a necessity for this lovely Scottish summer we're having (heat wave next week though baes!!).

When I first tried this cream I was a bit taken aback and apprehensive about how thick and rich it seemed but I have honestly never seen anything sink in to the skin so beautifully. Although I like to get the SPF benefits by applying it in the morning, I've also found it to be such a luxurious addition to my night time skin care routine, especially since it has such a lovely jasmine scent (quite similar to lavender) which I find so relaxing and de-stressing when I'm trying to fall asleep.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 15ml* (£9.50)

Although the last product on this list isn't necessarily 'skincare' it's certainly something I tend to neglect and always seem to scrimp on. Again this is another product free from gimmicks, including added colourings and scents which can often be counterproductive when used in lip balms. Made with the loveliest, soothing oils and vitamins, this is a lip balm that you should probably apply a good 5 to 10 minutes before leaving the house as it takes some time to full absorb in to the lips and until then can feel a bit sticky (and getting hair in your lip balm is pretty much the worst thing in the world). I have never found a lip balm which works as quickly and effectively as this one and, each time I've used it, I've only needed one application to clear up whatever disaster my lips are having. This is definitely a product everyone should spend a little bit extra on as its effectiveness will definitely save you from finishing chap stick after chap sticking and still seeing no improvement.

When I think of Kiehl's as a brand, the first words that spring to mind are 'reliable' and 'trustworthy'. Having started out as an apothecary in 1851, they've been serving as masters of skincare for over 160 years and that's something that fills me with confidence. They know skin, it's their thing and for that reason the products speak for themselves. They aren't gimmicky or full of false promises on the labels and each ingredient (many of which are natural, which is always a win in my eyes) is carefully selected for a specific purpose, not because it's the cheapest or most readily available. Plus, as well as dedicating themselves to providing the world with beautiful skin (as if that wasn't a big enough feat) they regularly launch campaigns and products in aid of charities and philanthropic causes. So either the brains behind Kiehl's need a medal or at least a very long nap.

I've loved trying out these products and each one has been an absolute indulgence that has been worth every penny. You definitely get what you pay for and with quality this good you couldn't possibly complain about paying that bit extra. I mean, you kind of owe it to your skin don't you think?! Have you tried any of these products? What are your faves from Kiehl's? Thanks for reading!

*The products in this post have been sent to me for review but all opinions and love for Kiehl's are my own.

  1. I tried the Daily Concentrate when I asked for a sample at the Kieh's counter at the airport two months ago. I love it so much, made my skin so soft and smooth! I have added it on my wishlist to purchase when I run out of the face oil I am currently using :)
