Ain't No Party Like a Lush Party

From buying your first 'Sex Bomb' as a pre-teen and trying to hide the label from your Mum because omg it says S-E-X lolz, to splashing £6.95 on a fresh face mask that's going to make your 13th birthday sleepover one they're going to be talking about for years, purchasing from Lush is kind of like a right of passage. So it felt slightly strange attending a bloggers event at my local Lush where I've been prodding the shower jellies and eating the lip scrub testers since I can remember. Although I've always been aware of the fact that the store holds such a range of products that I'd probably love, it can be easy to get distracted by the amazing colours and smells of the bath bomb and bubble bar section so I was super excited to learn about some different products and their benefits, especially since your gals still on the lookout for a skincare routine that means I'll never have to buy concealer again.

The Lush gals had done such a good job of setting up the shop and split us in to groups to travel round the different stations and try out different products. Our group started by getting pretty hands on and making our own 'Cupcake' face mask. I loved being able to see exactly what goes in to each mask and was amazed at how few ingredients there actually were and that they were all super natural. The whole shop smelled amazing and I felt like we were making brownies after adding all of the chocolatey cocoa powder (I can confirm it does taste as good as it smells). My favourite thing about this mask is that it contains rhassoul mud which is naturally absorbent so soaks up any excess oils, prevents breakouts and mattifys the skin. However, because it's also jam packed full of lovely butters and natural oils it doesn't go too far the other way and dry your skin out beyond belief so it's the perfect balance to combat my combo skin that just can't seem to make up it's mind.

With our newly packaged face masks in tow, we moved on to the makeup section of the store to learn about the Emotional Brilliance range. I've always admired this area of the shop from afar because all of the colours are beautiful but wowww do I really want to put that bright green stuff wherever the heck it's meant to go? The answer is now yes, I've officially been converted and now I want all of the colours all over my face.

After having a browse we each sat down with the lovely Aimee to have an emotional brilliance reading to see which colours best suited our emotions for that day. I felt a bit like I was having a psychic reading as I closed my eyes and Aimee spun the colour wheel then asked me to pick the first three colours that stood out to me the most. I ended up going for a bright bubblegum pink, the prettiest sparkliest gold and (of course) a rosy nude shade which, according to the reading, meant that I was feeling glamourous, have an ambition to live out a fantasy and one of my strengths is having perspective. I then had a look at the three makeup bits that matched the colours/emotions that I'd chosen and I loved them all, they really were shades that I'd pick for myself. Bubblegum pink Glamourous and rosy nude Perspective were both lipsticks and Fantasy was the prettiest gold liquid eyeliner I've ever seen. At the end of the night I ended up buying Perspective despite the fact the till wasn't even on because heck yes perspective is my strength and I want to wear a daily reminder of that on my lips (and you know I can never pass up a dusty rose shade, it's a curse). I'll also definitely be back for Fantasy because I can't stop thinking about having dreamy, sparkly gold eyelids.

Our group then moved on to the little makeshift Lush Spa station which I was so excited about as I've always wanted to visit the one on Princes Street. There we had a rundown of some of the treatments available at the spa and were lucky enough to have a little taster of the Comforter treatment. Our lovely masseuse used some of the delicious chocolatey-rose serum (which is now my new favourite smell in the world) to give us the most amazing hand and arm massage and I've honestly never had a more relaxing 5 minutes in my life. The serum left my skin feeling so silky smooth and soft and all of the tension in my fingers from constantly typing vanished. To complete the mini Comforter experience we each had the sweetest drink poured in to glasses of candy floss which instantly dissolved in to the pink liquid. It was literally an instant sugar rush and I spent the remainder of the evening bouncing about the shop so soz to the Lushies about that lolz.

To finish off our evening we headed to the last station to find out about Lush's range of 'Naked' products without packaging. Here we got to try out a variety of goodies from solid shampoo and conditioner bars to a foot pumice soap and exfoliating bar. Everything smelled bloomin amazing and I loved the idea of it all being packaging free as last year by selling this range Lush stopped around 16 MILLION plastic bottles from going to landfill which is pretty darn impressive *insert applause emoji here*. I'll definitely be replacing some of my bottled toiletries with these beauties for going on holiday to give myself some extra baggage weight for…you know, more shoes and liquid lipsticks.

I had such a fun night hanging out with the ladies at Lush Livingston and definitely feel like I've made some new friends so I'm excited to pop in soon and see everyone (and buy everything I'm now lusting over, thanks girls…thanks a lot). I've been on such a Lush high since the event and have been loving trying out all of the goodies the girls very kindly sent us home with (Angels on Bare Skin, omg…you need it in your life). I definitely have a new found appreciation for all of the different types of products in Lush and will without a doubt be making a beeline past the bath bomb section and towards all of the other hidden gems next time I visit. Okay maybe I'll still buy just one bath bomb. Maybe two.

  1. What a great sounding event! I feel like everyone is too quick to rush and buy bath bombs and doesn't give the other products a fair go. I have never considered any of their makeup before either but maybe I should go in and see how I am feeling! haha
