8 Ways to Have the Most Productive Day Ever

If you've read my latest post then you'll know that I've got high hopes and ambitions for the Summer. However, if I'm even in with a chance of achieving any of the things I want to do, I'm actually going to have to force myself to get out of bed, put a bra on and be productive. There's nothing I love more than a super productive day where I'm able to exaggeratedly tick everything off of my to do list whilst I make sure everyone is watching because, take note, this gal just slayed today. Plus, it's a well known fact that one productive day is equal to about nine days of chilling, so getting everything done just means that you're 100% entitled to a guilt-free rest of the week of Netflix, pizza and Twitter scrolling because, lets be honest, you deserve it. So here are 8 ways to make sure you get stuff done and have the most productive day ever.

1. Wake up Early:

I know it sounds a bit obvious but I can't tell you the amount of times I've planned to get up and be productive until my alarm has went off and half asleep me has thought nah boo not today and turned 'Night Owl' off within the first couple of notes. It's super important to plan for a productive day the night before and try and get to bed at a decent time to fit in your eight hours (or ten if you're me) so that when your alarm goes off the next morning you feel ready to get up and are less likely to want to kill the first person you see.

2. Get out of Your PJs:

Your subconscious is a very powerful, complex thing and sometimes you've got to take steps to outsmart it. Not getting out of your pyjamas (or putting a fresh set on, I see you lazy cheaters) tells your subconscious that this day of productivity is actually a day for all the chilling, Made in Chelsea watching and periodic napping you can think of. So before you do anything, you've got to make sure your brain knows the deal, get on with your morning skincare and put something on that doesn't make you want to just slide right back in to bed. I 100% recommend gym clothes, or something that provides the same degree of comfort, so you feel super sassy and ready to conquer the world but also have all that flexibility for movement, just in case you wanna cross your legs on your desk chair or do the splits or something.

3. Have a Good Breakfast:

I'm pretty shocking when it comes to breakfast and if I've not slept through it completely, a few squares of Lindt chocolate and I'm good to go. However, I know that if I want to be productive that's just not going to cut it and I'll end up spending half of my day going back and forward to the snack cupboard. So on days days like this I always try to go for something a bit more slow release like a lil Belvita or a smoothie which, although they're good for you, don't taste like cardboard and don't make you hate your day before it's even begun.

4. Exercise:

Now I'm not talking a full on half marathon or three hour gym session but nothing gets me ready to tackle the day ahead or makes me feel a little bit superior to everyone sitting inside watching This Morning like a little morning swim, run or even just a walk round the block. There's something about being out in the fresh air and getting just a lil bit sweaty that just makes me feel eager to annihilate my to-do list.

5. Make a Pretty To-Do List:

The last point brings me on to my one true love: the to-do list. I am the definition of a list lover, you know...the kind that makes lists about lists. There is NOTHING (and I mean nothing) more satisfying than putting a massive tick next to each bullet point as you achieve it and I promise that looking at a page full of ticks at the end of the day is going to leave you with all the warm and fuzzy feels. (Top tip: you can even put stupid things on the list like 'have lunch' or 'sharpen your pencil' just to get more ticks).

6. Stay Hydrated:

I literally look at water as having magical, brain enhancing properties so when I have a tonne of things to get done I make sure to always have a bottle by my side. There's nothing that makes me feel more grown up and in control of my life than drinking my full eight glasses a day (ok I've managed it like once) and despite the regular toilet breaks and trips to the mirror to check if the two mouthfuls I just had have cleared up my skin yet, staying hydrated always seems to make me feel more productive. However, if water's not doing it for you, you could probably replace those eight glasses with eight cups of coffee and it would have the desired effect.

7. Trick Yourself:

This whole productivity malarky is a game and you've got to be able to know how to play yourself. Trick yourself with incentives and rewards like one chocolate digestive per task or a ten minute scroll through Twitter for every half an hour of work. Write a funny tweet or post a banging selfie and force yourself to get stuff done before you check how many favourites or likes you got. Narcissistic but effective.

8. Reward Yourself:

When you've ticked all the to-dos, tidied your room and finished the packet of digestives it's time to give yourself a big bloomin pat on the back, flop on the sofa and refuse to move for the next three hours. So binge watch all of the Kimmy Schmidt your abs can handle with all the loling, pick your fave Lush bath bomb you've been saving for a special occasion and open a second packet of biscuits cause gal, you just killed your day.

  1. These are great ideas. I'm guilty of staying in my pjs whilst doing some housework but I never feel fully motivated and usually end up on the sofa or back in bed! Love this post.

  6. I feel like if I get up early, then say exercise for about an hour and then eat breakfast and get ready for the day I am so much more focused and just achieve more things in that day. I always tend to do less when I don't exercise in the morning, I don't know what it is but without exercising when I get up I just don't have the energy to be really productive.
