Friday Five: 19th February 2016

If you follow me on Twitter then you may know that I've currently got quite the obsession with Twitter polls. From what to have for dinner to life's deepest burning questions, go on, just stick them in a poll, it's fine. A few weeks ago I made a poll asking what you'd like to see more of on Unf4bul0us and I was so shocked to see how many people voted for posts about what I've been up to in my wee day to day life, you nosey parkers. So I've decided to start a little Friday Five series in which I tell you five things I've been loving or that have happened during the week. Do you see my thinking? There's five things and it's published on a Friday...Friday Five, genius I know. Now you know what I'm like, I don't want to commit to this and promise to do this every Friday for the rest of my life, literally 80 years old and including my new denture cream in my Friday Five. Plus some weeks I'll be pushed to even think of 5 times I left my room bar Uni. So we'll just take this slow and see how it goes, kind of like the start of a blossoming relationship where you're still tentative but have a funny feeling you might like where this is going. Anyway, I digress...Friday Five.

1. Roses -

This is totally cheating because these aren't even mine but I just wanted an excuse to photograph and share these beauties with you before they inevitably die, which is a cheery thought. For some reason, after 25 years of marriage, my Dad must have finally located the missing romantic bone in his body as my Mum received 100 of these bad boys on Valentine's Day. I'm loving how much they are brightening up our kitchen and they smell just divine. Plus it's just super cute seeing my Mum proper smitten over them like a teenager again. See boys, it's that easy, although maybe 100 is just showing off a bit.

2. Chocolate Caramel Crisp Bites -

Now I'd like to sit here and pretend that these are the fruit of my own labour and that I prepared the perfect batch of home baking to show you all but no - these are from Asda, so soz to disappoint. Seriously though, these are so good. So good. The only problem is that just having one is simply not an option so I literally keep finding myself sitting on the kitchen floor, 7 crisp bites in with no recollection of how I even got there.  Just go buy them and thank me later for the chocolatey caramel party that takes place in your mouth, babe you're so welcome.

3. Nursery -

Last week I started my placement in the cutest lil nursery class and I can't tell you how close I've come to smuggling them all home. I am so in love with every single one of them, the funny things they do and the weird things that come out of their mouths (and noses, I've never seen so much snot in my life). Yesterday I spent the whole morning dancing to songs like the Hokey and Cokey and If You're Happy and You Know It, and let me tell you I was clapping my hands like mad because I was SO happy. Studying for a teaching degree is way harder and more stressful than I could have ever imagined but being in the middle of it all, surrounded by the funniest, loveliest little kids, you remember why you're putting yourself through it in the first place. (Ps, the picture below is placement attire because duhh no pictures in the nursery, who do you think I am?).

4. Style Blogging's Blogger of the Year -

If you follow me on Twitter then you may know that I had a bit of an exciting day this week. I found out that I was shortlisted for Style Blogging's Blogger of the Year award and I have to say, I was very chuffed. However, even more excitingly, after putting it to a public vote (yey for more Twitter polls) I actually won which is super cool, especially since I was up against some amazing bloggers. The whole experience had me feeling all the feels because I couldn't believe how lovely everyone was being by voting and sharing and sending the nicest messages. Starting a blog and putting yourself out there for everyone to see can be a bit daunting but knowing that there's people out there who actually enjoy sitting down with a wee cup of tea and reading through my posts is such an amazing feeling. So thanks to everyone who voted for me, shared the poll or sent me a lovely message, you all made my day. And this deffo got soppier than I intended.

5. Valentine' Day -

If you've had enough soppiness from this post then you should probs just leave now before reading my final Friday Five because it's all about lurrrve (grab a bucket and try not to puke). This year was mine and Blair's third V-Day together which seems pretty crazy. We celebrated with a nice meal and, like the total OAPs we are, headed straight home to our PJs and the Baftas. We both agreed that the night felt so lovely and special and it was nice to just have time to celebrate us as a couple, because we're doing a pretty darn good job, I must say. Then the next day I went home, wrote a blog post about it, cried, then deleted it because who actually needs emotional stability? Nope, not me. Relationships aren't always going to be plain sailing but if you've found someone who makes you laugh until you cry, supports you when you need it most and doesn't moan too much when you eat food straight off their plate then you've got a good 'un, and I certainly have. Blair, if you've even bothered to read this, please don't kill me for being emosh.

I hope you enjoyed the first edition of Friday Five, let me know if it's something you'd like to see more of.  I love writing these types of posts because it's nice to just to get to chat to you guys and also take some time to think about all the positive things that have happened recently. What's the best thing to happen to you this week? Thanks for reading!
