The Best Smoothie you Will Ever Taste

It is not often in my life that I feel like a health guru or a kitchen goddess but today I am pleased to announce that I feel like both. This is mostly down to my bestie Hannah who bought me my very first (pink!!!!) Blend Active! When she gave me it, she explained that she thought it would help motivate me when I enter in to one of my sporadic (and usually short lived) health kicks. She is completely right, sometimes, out of the blue I find myself having some sort of spiritual awakening in which I decide to turn my life around and eat like a rabbit for the rest of my days. It usually lasts a couple of hours at most but I'm really hoping that I can get in to a routine with my Blend Active this year and start having smoothies for breakfast or as a snack, you know, 5 a day and all that.

I do actually really like fruit but I sometimes forget about it's existence, especially when my kitchen cupboard is full of Mars bars and Pom Bears. I also think some fruit can sometimes taste a bit mehh if it's not in season which always puts me off, but thankfully you don't seem to notice when it's blended. Strawberries, raspberries and pineapple are by far my favourites so it would only make sense to include them in my new imgoingtoturnmylifearound super smoothie. It's so easy and quick to make, tastes amazing and can be played about with to find the perfect combo. You can thank me later.

I started off by adding a couple of handfuls of raspberries, I used frozen so my big box of them would last longer but you can use fresh if you'd like. I then added approximately 5 strawberries and 6 chunks of pineapple, but again you can adjust this to suit your taste. Finally, I used the two special ingredients that made this smoothie out-of-this-world-delish. I added about 3 table spoons of the absolute babe that is Snog Frozen Yoghurt. In this instance, I used the passionfruit flavoured one because I thought it complemented the pineapple well and meant the taste wasn't drowned out by the berries. However, I also have a tub of Strawberry and Raspberry Snog in my freezer that I will definitely be using in an all berry smoothie. Lastly, I added about 200mls of Asda's own Exotic Fruit Juice. This juice is the stuff of dreams, it's literally all I drink in the house and I go through about 8 litres of it a week. (I'm not even exaggerating for once). This juice adds more of the pineapple and passionfruit flavour, as well as bulking up the volume of the smoothie and making it thinner. However, of course you don't have to use this juice (but I seriously recommend you do), I think orange or mango juice would also be really nice.

Once you've added everything, all that's left to do is whizz it all together. I like my smoothies to be quite thin and smooth but if you like your lumps and bumps then obviously you don't need to blend it for as long. If you're reading this and feeling disheartened because you don't own a Blend Active, or a blender of any sort for that matter, just shove everything in to a cup or a bowl or something and mash it all together with the end of a rolling pin then give it a shake, I genuinely think that could still work! At the moment, my plan of action for going back to Uni on Monday is to measure out all the ingredients the night before and keep them in the fridge, then quickly throw it all in the blender in the morning and drink my smoothie on the train like the organised, sophisticated commuter I wish I was. We'll see how this pans out because usually I don't even have time to brush my hair or put on socks.

I'd love love love if you left some of your favourite smoothie recipes in the comments or tweeted me them because I want to bank up a few different combinations to try. Thanks for reading!

  1. Thanks for sharing this, I've been looking for some new smoothie ideas. I like my smoothies really thick though so I usually put in a banana, mango, blueberries and almond or soy milk. Actually it depends on the season too, it's summer right now here so mangoes are everywhere!

  3. This looks gorgeous! I don't eat much fruit, not because I don't like the flavour but the texture against my teeth feels horrible. Will need to try this :)

    1. Thank you! I know exactly what you mean, I hate the texture of some fruits, especially kiwi but I guess you don't notice when it's all blended together! Xx
