5 Favourite Autumnal Nail Polishes

If you haven't realised already from my latest posts, tweets and Instagrams, I've gone in to full on Autumn mode and now that October is officially here this seems to be a little bit more socially acceptable. My favourite thing about Autumn is definitely all of the amazing colours that can be found on our trees and in our wardrobes. If you're like me and like to take the season in to consideration when picking a nail polish colour, then we both need to get a life then you will probably have already started thinking about your Autumn shades. Even though my collection is quite extensive,  I've managed to narrow down my top 5 favourite Autumnal polishes.

(Left to Right: Essie 'Mink Muffs', Tophshop 'Dress Up',
Barry M Gelly 'Mustard', Barry M Gelly 'Lychee', Barry M 'Racing Green')

Essie's 'Mink Muffs':

Essie describe this shade as a 'smokey taupe', a combination of brown and grey. However, I would say when applied, it's definitely more chocolate brown. Like all Essie polishes, it's so lovely to apply and the finish always looks amazing even without a topcoat. I was a bit wary of this shade when I bought it because I've never really thought of brown as a possible nail colour but I think it looks so sophisticated. Basically, I feel like I have my life together when I wear it.

Topshop's 'Dress Up':

Dress Up is from Topshop's matte range of nail paints. I've had mixed experiences with Topshop nail polishes but I absolutely love this one. It's dark red/wine in colour which I think would probably be too dark for Summer but perfect for Autumn. The matte effect works so well with this colour and again it's super easy to apply.

Barry M Gelly's 'Mustard':

Now I know what you're thinking, 'that is the ugliest colour I've ever seen', and you're probably right, but Mustard in Autumn is such a guilty pleasure of mine. At any other time of the year this colour would probably look out of place on your nails, but now that it's October, I'm going to make use of it whilst I can. Also, I could probably write the world's longest blog post on how much I love Barry M's Gelly collection, it applies like an absolute dream! The colour does look nicer on than it does in the bottle but I would definitely say it's one of those shades that you couldn't leave chipped on your nails for long, not a good look!

Barry M Gelly's 'Lychee':

Surprise, surprise: another Barry M Gelly. Lychee is my favourite nude polish that I own, mainly because it's so easy to work with and you don't have to slave away, applying four coats just for the colour to show up. All of the other nudes I own have pink undertones. However, Lychee's undertones are more yellowy which is why I think it's the perfect Autumnal nude. It's also an amazing base for glitter top coats (if you're willing to spend the next three hours of your life scraping glitter off your nails, seriously why are they so hard to take off?!).

Barry M's 'Racing Green':

Racing Green is a dark green shade which is almost metallic like. The colour changes slightly in different lights and even though it's quite dark the green is such a beautiful, vibrant colour. Due to the fact it is dark, I would never wear this shade in Summer so it's so nice to dig it out when the season starts to change.

Now that October is here, I'm excited to rotate between these polishes for the next few months (yes, even Mustard). Have you tried any of these nail polishes before? What are your favourite Autumnal shades? Thanks for reading!
