Room Tour

About a year ago, building work started for our house's new extension. As part of this, we knocked through an existing external wall to add on what was to become my new bedroom. I was ecstatic when I found out I was going to have a new room because my old one was fairly small. However, the most exciting part was knowing I got to choose how to decorate it. For once, the hours I've spent scouring Pinterest paid off. I could visualise my dream room and, as someone who loves a project, was determined to create it.

I wanted to create a calm, cosy, neutral space with lots of fairy lights. I also tried to incorporate my love of woodlands (basically just trees and deer) and the view of the woods from my windows definitely ties in this theme. So, after a noisy few months of building works and a lot of trailing around furniture shops, my new room was born and it was definitely worth it!

However, although I love the airy, spacious feel during the day, I think that my room really comes to life at night. Not including my lamps or ceiling lights, I bought seven lots of fairy lights/light up ornaments! I love how these change the whole mood of the room at night time and make the room look so cosy and inviting. There's nothing better than coming home to this sight after a long day!

Watching this room come to life from just some plans on a piece of paper was one of the best experiences of my life. I never imagined I'd ever be lucky enough to have a bedroom that expresses my personality so well. Regardless of how much money you have to spend, I really think with a bit of attention to detail you can start to make any room feel like your own. I've definitely caught the decorating bug now and if teaching doesn't work out I may just have to try my hand at interior design!!

Let me know in the comments what your favourite thing about your own room is.  Thanks for reading!
